Harbison-Walker History
First founded in 1865 as the Star Fire Brick Company, Harbison-Walker has been producing world class refractories for over 140 years.
Harbison-Walker has been supplying refractory products to the oil refining industry since the 1940's and in 1998 it acquired A.P. Green Industries who, at the time, was one of the largest suppliers of refractory to the oil refining industry in the world. This merger of two refractory giants created the world's most technologically advanced refractory company.
Today, both companies continue to operate as part of the ANH Refractories Family of Companies located in Moon Township, PA, just 15 miles northwest of downtown Pittsburgh. ANH Refractories houses the collective strength of Harbison-Walker, A.P. Green and North American Refractories.
Harbison-Walker and A.P. Green operate 19 manufacturing facilities located in strategic locations worldwide ensuring its customers access to world class materials.
