Harbison-Walker History

First founded in 1865 as the Star Fire Brick Company, Harbison-Walker has been producing world class refractories for over 140 years.

At the end of the 20th century Harbison-Walker combined its' efforts with AP Green and North American Refractories, merging three refractory giants and creating the world's most technologically advanced refractory company.

Today, all three companies continue to operate as part of the ANH Refractories Family of Companies located in Moon Township, PA, just 15 miles northwest of downtown Pittsburgh. ANH Refractories houses the collective strength of Harbison-Walker, A.P. Green and North American Refractories.

Harbison-Walker, as part of ANH Refractories operates 19 manufacturing facilities located in strategic locations worldwide and maintains 26 distribution centers in North America ensuring its customers access to world class materials.
